B2B social media is one of those things that is commonly taken for granted. For whatever reason, a lot of B2B companies tend to neglect their social media accounts. Either they don’t want to hire a full-time employee to manage their social media accounts or they don’t think it’s necessary to have a social media presence at all. Rightfully so, hiring a full-time employee is probably not necessary, but having a social media presence is always a smart thing no matter whether you are a B2C or B2B company.
Why B2B Social Media is Important
Social media is a way for potential customers to validate you. It’s a way for you to show that your company is still around and possibly even thriving. Having just a website isn’t enough these days, especially if it is a static website. There is no way to know if the company is still operating today if all you are able to see is a homepage, a contact page, and an about page. Maybe they have a blog that hasn’t been updated in a while as well.
Social media is a way to constantly push out new updates to potential clients. Let them know what you’ve been working on. Show them that you’re working hard, every single day – day in and day out. Social media is the quickest and easiest way to do this. It’s easier than a newsletter. It’s easier than a shareholder meeting. It’s easier than a blog post.
In just a couple of hundred characters, you can let the world know that a new website design is coming. Or that a new product is launching. And you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars on a PR campaign in order to do so.
Showing your customers that you know how to effectively use social media shows them that you are a well-managed company. If you can be great at the small things just imagine how great you must be at your core.
